Now it’s time for a break down…
Wow, what a weekend!
Ethinic/Regional Potluck/Birthday Party was a big success. There was a ton of food and this picture really doesn’t do it justice. Turns out, in the heat of partying down the food blogger in me left the building and I didn’t put too much time into photography.
All I can say was the food was delicious and the company was delightful and it was a wonderful night. I also got to focus on one of my New Years resolutions:
At the end of the buffet I attached the following sign to a big bowl. What was in the bowl? Money. I asked that anyone who wishes to donate to a local charity that supports food banks please do so, and I would match dollar for dollar what was contributed. They donated $64, and I donated $64, and according to the City Harvest website that’s enough to feed 2 people in New York for an entire year!
That felt good.
On to another resolution:
I did resolve to put more pictures of me on the blog, but if I’m going to do it, I’m dragging my friends along with me!
Muahahahaha. I need a haircut.
I know that it’s totally wasteful, especially because I made a point of singling out a food rescue organization to help, but…I ended up throwing out all the leftovers from the party. That’s not true, I kept some blocks of cheese, white rice and rice pudding. But all in all, no one wanted to take anything home and it was too much for me. I ate some leftovers Sunday and realized this isn’t the type of food I can eat everyday without my body completely getting pissed off at me. So it went in the trash.
I’m feeling guilty about that, so I feel the need to confess it on the internet.
This is what Monday looked like:
Monday Breakfast
Oatmeal with 1 Tbsp. brown sugar, banana, and chopped pecans
Monday Snack
Soy Latte
Monday Lunch
Whole wheat wrap with hummus, red pepper and cucumber
Mashed acorn squash
Monday Snack 2
Apple
Monday Dinner
I had a friend in town from Israel. I felt the need to expose him to Vietnamese food at one of my favorite restaurants.
Seafood soup with rice noodles.
Yup, that about covers it.

Whenever I feel bad about “wasting” food I just think: if it’s food I don’t even want, then why does it have to go through my body first to ultimately become waste anyway? Kinda gross but it helps! Fyi- if I had hair like yours, I’d never cut it!!

Thanks Amanda! That actually does help. And, about my hair, the problem is that I NEVER cut it, ever. It’s been over a year since my last trim! I’m so bad about that stuff.

You’re so beautiful, Kim! Great idea about the donations to City Harvest. I have always thought it’s a sick irony that most of the world is hungry, and food bloggers are sitting here obsessing over what to eat and what not to eat. Maybe I’ll do something like that for our housewarming party

Wow, it looks like you had a great turnout. So much food! I’m sorry I couldn’t be there but am glad you had fun.
