I’m back. Well, I’ve been back for a few days, but in denial about the whole honeymoon thing being over. I would like to always be honeymooning. I don’t think The Fella and I realized how little quality time we get with one another until we actually had time to ourselves. Friday night is our date night and we’ve decided to make it “honeymoon” night going forward, every Friday night will be a little bit of well-deserved honeymooning.
“How was Mexico?” you say. The truth is, I ate Mexico. It’s no longer there. I’m sorry to all of the displaced persons I’ve created because I’ve eaten your country. I’ll make it up to you—we have an Aerobed and a pullout couch, come on over.
I have to admit, I haven’t quite fallen back on the wagon of healthy eating, but I’m trying to change that.
The first thing we did when we got home was go grocery shopping, our fridge is filled with tofu, eggs, light cheeses, and vegetables. We received a bread machine as a wedding gift, so I’m vowing to only make my own bread from now on—let’s see how long that lasts. Fresh, preservative free bread? Could be a thing, I’m hoping it catches on, especially since all the super healthy breads I buy at Whole Foods are super duper pricey. I’m hoping I can save a bit of money doing it myself.
Do you have a bread machine? Make your own grocery staples?
In other news. WE’RE GETTING A PUPPY.
We don’t know which puppy, but we’re puppy browsing now. We’ll definitely be adopting a rescue pup, either from the pound or a shelter. I grew up with pedigree show dogs (I even competed with them in dog shows when I was a kid—chalk that up to a fact you didn’t know about me), but we generally believe in going the rescue route.
I’m so excited. I think I want a dog more than I want kids. Is that a bad thing to say? I grew up with dogs and have really felt like something’s been missing in my life for many years. When we got home from our honeymoon he gave me the letter above as his wedding gift to me.
Here’s the eats…
2 egg omelet with mushrooms and mozzarella
I stopped by a salad bar for lunch and got some salmon, string beans and rice (for some reason they use a lot of oil in the brown rice, so I stick with the white rice when I eat there)
Brown rice cakes with peanut butter
Trader Joe’s veggie enchiladas and a roasted vegetable kabob
