I went boob commando to work yesterday. It was an accident, I swear. So here’s how it happened: 

Each night before I go to bed I grab some clothes and put them in the living room for the next day. I wake up in the wee hours of the morning, and it’s best if I can just roll out of bed and and get prepped in the living room (opening closet doors, fishing for underwear, trying to see what’s black and what’s brown in the pitch dark of my room will only wake The Fella up and he’s a bit of a delicate flower when it comes to sleep). As per my usual routine I laid out my outfit for the day Thursday night, only I forgot to put a bra out, and when I realized my folly at 4:30AM, I knew it would be a total jerk move to wake Roy up.

Going braless all day made me think of my mom. Roll with me here…

When I first started puberty my mom advised me not to wear a bra. My mom’s rationale was that she never wore a bra and her girls stood at attention until she went and had me.  Sorry I ruined your boobs, Mom!  Bras, she told me, weaken your chest.

For years, I’d heard just the opposite, that you need to wear a bra to keep the girls supported. Obviously everyone but my mom was right, that’s how mom’s work. They’re wrong until you find out they were right all along. Well doncha know a new study came out saying that bras actually weaken breast tissue. Going bra-less helps keep your breasts firm and sag-free. My mom was right! I hate it when that happens. 

Thanks to the fact that my mom encouraged me not to wear a bra every day (I usually take a weekend day off), a steady chest-press routine, and decently elastic skin, I’m lucky that no one seems to have noticed. Maybe I should go bra-free on the regular.

On the way to there I sucked down a protein shake, because studies have shown that women who have protein before their workout burn more calories than those who exercise on an empty tummy or after eating carbs.

Think it worked?  Maybe it was the protein. Or maybe it was the the fact that I spent 2 hours, 24 minutes, and 52 second on the gym floor. I spent an hour lifting weights (I rent a locker at the gym, so I did have sports bras at the ready)  and then another hour on the elliptical. I got to the gym early, so it was either hang out there or go to work early. I spend enough time at work.

Guys, there’s really nothing I love more than a breakfast sandwich. After buffalo wings, these bad boys are probably my most favorite foods. Super healthy? No, but so worth it. This one consisted of a whole wheat wrap, egg whites, turkey bacon and ooey-gooey cheese.

Dinner

We had surprise dinner guests, so I whipped up a low-fat/low-carb lasagna, using zucchini instead of noodles and low fat ricotta with spinach. I forgot to take pictures, but it was awesome.  Next time I make it I’ll post the recipe here.
