Arts & Crafts and Alcohol.  I’m pretty sure I’ve never ever heard of a better combination. Whomever the masterminds behind Paint Nite are, I want to shake their hand and buy them a beer.

One of my resolutions for August is to spend more quality time with the people I love.  I’ll be spending two weeks cuddling up to The Fella when we leave for Israel on Friday, so it seemed only fair that I spend the weekend with my BFFs and my parents.

My lady friends and I got down with some acrylic paints and fermented beverages on Saturday.

Beware befriending bloggers.  Cheesy pictures of you with easels and paint brushes could find their way onto the Internet.

I made art…and a camel toe.  Don’t look! You can look at the art.

Okay, so maybe I’m no van Gogh, but I’m pretty proud of myself.  As far as bonding activities go, this one was one of our best in a long time.  Paint Nites go down all over the country.  Basically, you go to the website pick the painting and date in your area that rocks your boat, and then show up.  All the paint is provided, as is a super friendly “art teacher” who basically breaks down the painting into a “For Dummies” friendly tutorial.  And, did I mention it’s in a bar, so there are frothy beers and stuff.  Seriously, a good time.  We’re already planning our second trip.  Now I’ve got to find somewhere to put all my “art.”

(Disclaimer: This review is totally unsolicited, I was not compensated, nor discounted—I just really liked it)

After we finished making things purple we hopped on a train out to Long Island so The Fella and I could spend a little bit of bonding time with the folks before our trip. When I got home, I immediately fell asleep which is what I do whenever I’m within 30ft. of the memory foam mattress in parents guest room.

Roy stayed up to bond with the parental units.

There was word play

You know a man is a keeper if he’s not afraid to hang out with your family without you.  Just a tip for the single folks out there Winking smile

Needless to say, very little of my bonding time this weekend constituted exercise or eating healthfully.  I made up for it today with some delivery meals from The Fresh Diet (honestly, I’m getting kind of bored with pre-packaged meals and I’m looking forward to spending some time in the kitchen when I get back from Israel) and a Zumba class after work.

Here’s what my delivery diet looked like today:

Creamy Banana Nut Oatmeal

Asian Style Chicken Salad with Baby Bok Choy, Watercress, Alfalfa Sprouts, Water Chestnuts & Sesame Soy Dressing

Thai Curried Noodles with Broccoli and Tofu with Zucchini Rounds Stewed in Fresh Marinara Sauce and Crispy Brussels Sprouts with Fennel and Fresh Lemon Zest

What’s your favorite ladies night (or day) bonding activity?
