Damn it feels good to be a gangsta!

If a gangsta spent all weekend prettying up her home office in an effort to create a happy and productive work space. That’s what gangstas do, right?

In true DIY fashion (have I mentioned I’m not crafty in the slightest?), I hit up Lowes yesterday to get something girly and pink to decorate my desk with. If my home office has a theme it’s kitschy pink and Parisian. As far as I’m concerned the old desk that houses my office supplies is a total eyesore, but it has lived in my apartment longer than I have, and I’m fairly certain it belonged to my landlord in a former life—somehow I feel like I’m not allowed to get rid of it, also, it’s free and my current budget just says no to IKEA. I can’t refinish it, I can’t get rid of it, but by golly I can make it stupidly girlie, and that’s what I did. And I did it with knobs.

I’m going to have to run to the hardware store tomorrow to grab some sandpaper, wood stain, and washers to spruce up the damage around the old knobs, and clean up the areas where previous owners wrote on it. Nothing is going to make this desk beautiful, but by golly I can make it corny…and corny is good enough for me!

The office sprucing up totally worked. I was pretty much glued to my desk till 6pm and the time totally flew. It was really a relief to not be working from my couch. Sure it’s comfy, but it’s almost distractingly comfy, and concentration was seriously in demand today. As I mentioned before, I recently took on a new writing/media consulting client, and my day started with a call about a rush project before I was even out of bed. Eek! The work space helped. Fo shizzle.  I’m going to get a hang of this whole working from home all day (and actually being productive)  thing soon, then I’ll stop talking about it.

I’m off now to start a new exercise DVD set. I’m not telling you what it is yet, but I’m going to be reviewing it next week, and there’s going to be a giveaway (this is me trying to tempt you into reading with the promise of stuff. Oooh, stuff.)
