I took an impromptu digital detox yesterday.  Lately I’ve been craving some serious technology free time, so last night, instead of writing, texting, emailing, and doing all the other activities that usually fill my down time I just read a book.  It felt good.

I have to say I am very proud of myself.  Yesterday I started the day (EARLY) by hitting up Brooklyn Bridge Bootcamp, and slow as my running behind could carry me, I ran the whole thing twice.  Usually during this class I do a little run/walk action, but I was determined to run it.  There was one point that I was so slow that the teacher asked if I had walked it, but uhh, no, that’s just my feeble up-hill pace.  I was very proud of myself.

Speaking of running: Phil and anyone else out there interested in starting to run, or even improving your running skills, I want to provide you with a link to the program I’m doing.  The program starts from walking and has a curriculum all the way up to marathon training.  You can check it out at CoachShelly.com.

The rest of my Friday was spent with one of my most favorite people on the planet, Pink of Perfection.  Then I went to a reading for a new play.  It was good to get my feet back in the acting world.

When I got home I decided to try and recreate the tasty chicken kabobs they sell on the streets all over–and I was pretty successful.  There’s something in the spices they use that just makes me salivate, so when I got home I cut up some chicken thighs and created a dry rub of cumin, garlic powder, and cayenne pepper.  Really good.

Here’s a recap of the last couple of days.  If you’re American, happy Independence Day weekend!

And to my Best Friend, who I am not entirely sure reads this, HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHELLE!  I’m very glad you were born, you rock my world!

Happy Birthday Chelle!

Okay, here’s the food:

Thursday Breakfast

1/2 cup egg whites, salsa, 1/2 avocado

Lunch

Salad with arugala, tomato, cucumber, beets, tuna, oil & vinegar

Snack

1/2 cantelope

Dinner

Plain Greek Yogurt with trail mix

Friday Breakfast

I usually don’t eat before AM workouts, but the Brooklyn Bridge Bootcamp class is seriously hard and when I’ve taken it without food in my system I get really sick.  Smoothies seem to sit okay in my tummy pre activity, so I started my day with a milkshake, err, smoothie.

Almond milk, banana, 1 Tbsp Peanut Butter, Chocolate whey protein

Lunch

Post class I stopped at the farmers market and got some fresh tomatoes and fresh strawberries.  The taste of fresh strawberries cannot compare to the stuff you buy in the grocery store.  Simply amazing.

1/2 cup egg whites with salsa, 1/2 avocado, tomato, strawberries

Dinner

Chicken kabobs (2 chicken thighs), roasted zucchini, barley with mushrooms
