I woke up this morning with no intention of signing up for a race.

Actually when I woke up this morning the only running I could muster was the running around like a crazy person I was — trying to eat, type, and shower at the same time.

Things changed for me at about 10:30am, during a meeting with my boss who informed me that I would be partaking in the Colon Cancer Challenge, a fundraising sporting event for an organization she volunteers with.  I went to the kick off event tonight and actually got kind of excited.  The event has three options,  a 1.7 mile walk: a 4 mile run; or a 15 mile run.

I think I’ll aim for the 4-mile, but who knows if I’m feeling particularly ambitious maybe I’ll  go for the 15.  The way I see it, it’s a win-win, I can raise money for a good cause, and get a little external motivation to get me back to the gym.

The truth is I’ve been really frustrated with my inability to log any real time at the gym these days.  I could use a little external push in the right direction.  As extra motivation, I entered the manfriend into the run with me.  He can probably run 15 miles in his sleep, so in an effort to not be puny and spazorific, I’m going to get my ass back on a treadmill tomorrow.  I’ve got two months to train, better get on that.

I ate some cheese and crackers at the fundraiser tonight.
