Alright, my Whole Foods lunches and Starbucks coffee breaks need to end! Today started a new week of trying to be a bit more financially responsible with my food planning. Luckily I had time to stock the fridge this weekend, so I have food to bring with me to work, and now that it’s freezing wondering through Central Park on my lunch break seems a lot less appealing.
This weekend I went to the wrap party for the film I shot this summer. The director just sent a cut of it to Sundance, so keep your fingers crossed! I have to admit, I felt a bit the fraud there. At a certain point I was talking with a group of actors and they were all complaining about how few auditions there are lately, and asking what I’ve been going out for. The truth is, I haven’t auditioned for anything in months. Many, many months. Besides the obvious, that I’m currently taking care of my mama, I’m not sure what’s wrong with me. My commitment to my dreams hasn’t died, it’s just my motivation to pursue them. I guess a part of me is a bit spoiled at this point. I spent many years working in crappy theaters, and doing bad films, and over the last couple of years I have been lucky enough to do work I liked and got paid for. I feel like I’m done paying my dues, so I guess I’m just not all that motivated to go out for the stuff I used to do. And right now there’s not much else going up. Even the entertainment world has been hit hard by the economy.
Perhaps I’m a bit conceited. Maybe it’s time to get my priorities back in check. Or, maybe, this film will be a huge success and I won’t have to worry every again, but somehow I think I need to eat a slice of humble pie.
The wrap party was fun though, I needed a night out.
Whole grain bagel with reduced fat cream cheese
I tried my hand at making a soy latte, but it was gross. I bow to the Starbucks gods.
Honey wheat wrap with turkey, lettuce, mustard
This wasn’t enough food, I was starving by the end of the day. It’s been a long time since I knew how to pack my lunch effectively. Tomorrow I’ll add some more food.
Chicken sausage and peppers (red, orange, and yellow), mushrooms and homemade tomato sauce
Ziti (I don’t usually eat white pasta, but my mom hates whole wheat. White tastes soooo decadent!)
