I often joke that I’m amazed that the members of my family have successfully made it to adulthood.  I love them, but sometimes I wonder about them.  You know, things like the fact that my father is 62-years-old and has a diet that consists of 95% cupcakes, sort of make me wonder if we ever really mature ifyaknowhatImean.

Today was cleaning day at my aunts apartment.  No one in my family is particularly enthusiastic about domestic responsibility.  Myself excluded.  I tend to be a bit on the anal side.  This little tidbit about my personality is what made me a perfect helper for her apartment cleaning adventure.  The thing about NYC apartments is that they’re small, and most people I know have a hard time when they’ve lived in one for many years (in my aunts case she’s lived in the same building for over 30 years)  juggling all the stuff they accumulate. I on the other hand, tend to throw things out with abandon.  So…from 11am-till about 6pm I cleaned.  It was kind of fun coming accross pictures of my aunt and mother when they were kids, my grandparents wedding photos and the recipes she worked on when she was going through culinary school and she even gave me one of my birth announcements which was a bottle of champagne with my name, birthday and weight on it (3lbs. 2.5oz -in case you were wondering). Let’s just say that was my exercise for today.
