Alright, I’m here.  In Chicago.  In a cafe.  Waiting for ChicagoMan to get out of his meeting which will most likely be a few hours-a perfect time to catch up on my blogging.  I must say the last 24-hours have been less than healthfully pristine, but a girl has to live and I have no regrets.

It’s restaurant week in NYC, which means all the super restaurants with super high prices have special prix fixed menus.  I met up with my mom and aunt last night at a BBQ joint.  I knew that getting something from the three-course fixed menu would mean that I would eat three-courses, and I was therefore safer just ordering one less than healthy dish from the menu.  And I did.  Fried Chicken.  I didn’t eat all of it, but I’d been craving it for a while so this seemed like the perfect time to indulge a bit.  Then I shared my mom’s dessert with her, a apple cobbler with cinnamon ice cream.  Delish!

McKenzieStreet: Yup, I snack.  In fact when I’m office bound I usually keep a jar of granola bars on my desk.  I love Cascadian Farms Peanut Butter Granola Bars, they are to die for.  I’m also a big fan of Trader Joe’s Trail mix bars.  But, I tend to be more of a 3pm snacker than a late night snacker.  Very rarely do I eat before bed.  I tend to like big dinners that stuff me and make me want to fall into a coma  But, that’s not an absolute and I have my moments.  I’m a total bulk eater so when I am in the mood to nosh I find popcorn a good go to food because I can eat it and eat it and eat it and it’s not all that bad for me.  PB&J is also a go to comfort food for me, it’s sweet and carby with a bit of protein so I get a good mix of foods.  I can also eat my weights worth of rice pudding.  If you’re craving dessert, a great and healthy go to is to cut a banana in half lengthwise, sprinkle with a little cinnamon, and bake it for about 10-15.  It’s great on it’s own or with a scoop of vanilla frozen yogurt.  Or, you can do what I do when I’m home visiting my friends-go to a diner at 3am and eat a cheeseburger and fries-not quite as healthy an option though.
