It’s a pretty dismal day here in New York, apocalyptic really, I also just got confidential word that my company is doing lay offs next week.  Sigh, another casualty of a crappy economy.  I certainly hope no one I work with reads this blog.  I guess if I announce it here it’s not all that confidential 🙂 .  I’m not particularly worried, perhaps I should be, but as of right now I’m doing two jobs, so if they lay me off, they’re kind of screwed in regard to training a new person, plus it might actually be a relief if I get the ax-severance, all my vacation time in cash and collecting unemployment.  Not so bad for a little while.  I’ve been thinking of making the jump to full time freelancer for a while now, so either way I’ll be okay.  I’ve been through two other layoffs with this company, and although so far (knock on wood) I’ve made it through unscathed it really does leave me with a bad taste in my mouth.  It always happens right before the holidays too.  Bah-humbug.

On an up note, I started my day with some yoga.  It was actually kind of nice to start my day with some deep breathing and stretching of the non-Bikram variety (which I maintain I can stomach much better in the evening).  Tonight after work I’ll hit up a Pilates class at my gym and perhaps hit the treadmill for some aerobicizing.   After that it’s I plan on doing some work, checking out some more freelance opportunities and perhaps submitting a few resumes (just to be safe 😉 )
